Hi, I’m Emily.
I’ve been a working stylist and colourist for over 10 years, and I run By Emily Hair Studio, where I see clients every week for cuts, colour, and everything in between.
BoldTress started as a way to share the styles and ideas I work with in the chair every day with people everywhere, not just my local clients. Hair trends don’t stay in one city anymore, and I wanted to give people around the world real, tested ideas they can bring to their own stylist or try at home, no matter where they live. I got tired of seeing beauty blogs give the same generic, recycled advice, so I decided to write the kind of guides I wish existed when I was starting out: specific, tested, and based on what actually happens when scissors meet real hair.
Every style idea on this site comes from real salon experience, curated so you can adopt whatever fits your hair type, face shape, and lifestyle, wherever in the world you’re reading this from.

A bit about my journey
I started cutting hair over a decade ago and worked my way up through salons before opening my own studio in Richmond. Along the way I’ve cut and coloured thousands of heads of hair, learned what actually holds up between salon visits, and figured out which trends are worth trying and which ones look better on Pinterest than in real life. BoldTress is where I put all of that experience into words.
